Car trips and couches and puppy dog nails!

What a  weekend! It seems like every weekend I am so busy and yet I get nothing done that needs to get done. Thankfully, while I have been busy these past few days, there has been plenty of down time to take care of things that have been on my to-do list, as well as some that were not.

Saturday was my social day. I ran errands at Target with the Mister and spent far too much money, but it was money well spent. You'll see why in a minute.

After errands, little Lola and I headed up to my hometown for a BBQ to celebrate my friend getting her Master's degree. The weather was absolutely gorgeous for the drive up and Lola enjoyed lounging in the sunshine. She has some odd attachment to that tiny tote bag and loves to snuggle up in it, even though it really is far too small for her. We are definitely going to have to get her something larger if she is going to be hitting the town with me all the time!

Saturday evening was a lovely gathering with some of the other Waggytail Rescue gals for some puppy playtime and vino. It has been forever since I have had a girls' night out and this was really just what the doctor ordered. Of course, as expected, I was a total flake and forgot to get pictures of the dog madness but I promise it was pretty stellar.

While Sunday morning came much too fast, I hit the ground running. By that I mean I got out of bed around 10:00AM and made myself Velveeta shells and cheddar because that really is the breakfast of champions. The poor Mister still was not feeling well, though he had quite the team taking care of him! Maximus is the sort of dog that will not leave your side when you are sick, so he is pretty great to have around.

While he was napping, as quietly as I could, I took it upon myself to change the slipcover on the couch. Prior to me moving in, the Mister was the owner of a black couch. Once Maximus and I settled in though, it was consistently covered in dog hair and now that we have added two more light-haired shedding dogs to the mix, it is out of control.

A couple of months ago, I had picked up that throw blanket at IKEA and I really liked how it looked at the time but frankly, I think the apartment is too dark and wanted to throw some light into the mix. We have brown bedding so the throw blanket ties the two side of the room together, while the throw pillows (from our Saturday morning trip to Target) match the front half of the apartment. I am really happy with how it turned out and love that for less than $55 (for the slipcover, blanket and pillows), we have a brand-new couch!

When I was done, it took every once of self-control to not purposely wake up my poor, sick boyfriend and show off what I had done. Hours passed and I started to go a little bonkers and that is how Lola ended up with a manicure.

Hey, these things happen.
